Astrology for April 2023

We kicked off a new Spring with the Aries Equinox on 21st March which also happens to be the start of a brand-new astrological year at Zero degrees of Aries.

The ruler of Aries is fiery Mars, who right now is taking a very extended trip through Gemini! You may find that yourself a lot more activated or even trigger-happy than usual. Not only is Mars making a very tense square to all these Aries planets, but the red planet is currently astrologically ‘out of bounds’ from its usual orbit so even more likely to act in an erratic and unpredictable ways – remember to watch out for heightened emotions and try not to say anything we might later come to regret!

Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and represents the excitable, child-like, fireball energy from which all of life springs forth (hence why Aries season always coincides with the Spring Equinox). The Aries crew are fun, bold and focused primarily on their subjective personal experiences. With so many planets in the cardinal fire sign, April will prove to have more going on energy-wise for all of us so take advantage by kicking off new projects and showing up boldly!

On April 19th we will experience a New Moon Solar Eclipse at 29° Aries, it is rare to have two new moons in the same sign one after the other and eclipses always bring a change in direction. They are unpredictable and difficult to plan for so peek where Aries sits in your own birth chart (and if you have any planets in Aries!) as is the area of life that with most chance of an opportunity to ‘initiate’ something new!

The big astrological shift is Pluto moving into Aquarius for a short stint. This shift of Pluto (the slowest moving planet representative of the deepest transformations in fees) into a brand-new sign will give us a flavour for the things will be between 2024 to 2044. Yes, it spends over 20 years in Aquarius – this is representative of a massive cultural we will all experience.

Pluto's power is his ability to 'flip' over what has previously been hidden and drive big changes, no matter how strongly we cling onto the ‘old ways’- we can think of Pluto as bringing us our collective ‘deep lesson’ themes. As astrology is the study of cycles, we can look back in history to understand these transformations have impacted and it is fair to say with this shift into the sign of Aquarius, we will doing some deep generational work on how we operate as a 'collective' versus the individual, revolutions in workplace and societal structures and increased  'scientific focus' on technology and AI.
